ibn HSimakarb reported:

 ibn HSimakarb reported: I said to Jabir ibn Samurah, “Did you sit with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?” He said, “Yes. The companions would sit and recite poetry and mention some affairs from the time of ignorance. The Prophet would laugh and smile among with them when they laughed.”
